Attendees of this annual event will have their pick of the finest brews produced locally and throughout the nation, so no matter the taste or style of beer you are looking for, NOLA On Tap is sure to have something to satisfy your taste buds.
Like any proper Louisiana Festival, NOLA On Tap is also a great opportunity to enjoy local food and music. On top of that, the festival’s proceeds benefit the Louisiana SPCA. As the state’s oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization, the LASPCA is dedicated to promoting, protecting and advancing the well-being of Louisiana’s companion animals.
Like the rest of the United States, Louisiana has been enjoying a craft beer explosion in recent years. The Big Easy and nearby cities have witnessed a surge in new breweries. Beer lovers won’t want to miss this valuable chance to sample local IPAs, lagers, pilsners, and other popular types of beer. Vendors at NOLA On Tap 2023 include popular regional breweries like Bayou Teche Brewing, Gnarly Barley, and Parish Brewing Company – all of which have opened in the past 20 years.
Of course, Southern Louisiana brewing history goes back a lot farther than that. Long-established breweries such as Abita Beer and Faubourg Brewing Company (formerly known as Dixie Brewing Company) will also be pouring samples and pints at NOLA On Tap. National and international brewing icons like Dogfish Head, Bell’s and Guinness will make appearances. Other delicious alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages besides beer will also be available.
NOLA On Tap is fast approaching at Lafreniere Park in Metairie on March 18, 2023 from 2-7 PM. The diverse beer culture of present-day New Orleans is traceable to the booming trade activities that occurred in 19th century on the Mississippi River. Many of the prosperous businessmen, who earned their fortune through trading wheat and hops for early breweries, lived in houses in the Garden District neighborhood — some of which are still standing today. Thankfully, Garden District walking tours are a great way to learn about the culture and architecture that blossomed in Uptown New Orleans when river trade was booming. Book your Garden District tour and step back in history with this incredible and educational excursion.
